The Friendship and Light Exhibition features 4 renowned female artists, all from Michigan. This exhibit evolved out of friendships, and a shared passion for plein air painting.

The 4 artists, Marianna Defer-Pfeifer, Barbara Reich, Vianna Szabo and Sharon Will, have come together at various points in their artistic journeys while living in southeastern Michigan. Each artist brings to this exhibit a wide variety of landscapes depicting Michigan and beyond. Also represented is each artist’s independent focus such as the figure, portraiture, still life and architectural themes.

In conjunction with the exhibition, three of the artists are offering workshops at Oliver Art Center. First is Barbara Reich’s “Painting Expressive Landscapes in Soft Pastel” running September 2-26,10am-4pm.

The second offering is from one of the art center’s regular instructors, Vianna Szabo. Her workshop, “Painterly Portraits from Photographs” runs October 17-19, 9:30am-4:00pm.

To wrap up the exhibition, Sharon Will presents “Painting Successful Landscapes from Photos,” November 6-7, 9:30am-4pm.
