Drop-In Art and Nature Programs at Michigan Legacy Art Park
THOMPSONVILLE, MICH – Interpretive workshops are taking place at Michigan Legacy Art Park from now through August 18. These drop-in programs allow Art Park visitors of all ages a chance to discover a more personal relationship to the art and nature they engage during their experience in the park.
Environmental educator Ramona DeGeorgio-Venegas will be greeting visitors and sharing her wealth of knowledge on the environment and natural resources as an interesting foundation for guests exploring the park.
These programs are a wonderful introduction for first-time visitors to the Art Park, and a chance for those familiar with the park to discover it more deeply. Simple activities give children and adults alike an opportunity to glean more from their time in the park, surrounded by art and nature. Spanish-speaking guests are encouraged to attend, as DeGeorgio-Venegas is fluent as well.
An environmental educator with a love of both art and nature, Ramona enjoys sharing ways for others to see, hear, touch, feel and appreciate the outdoors and make good memories of their experience. Prior to her retirement, Ramona was an outdoor recreation planner with the USDA Forest Service, where she worked with natural resources, trails and interpretation. She has also served with the Peace Corps in three environmental education assignments to Chile, Peru and Guyana, and also volunteered with the residential environmental education camp at Acadia National Park.
To participate in the interpretive programs, drop-in between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturdays through August 18. Programs take place at the Mo & Linda White Discovery Grove, located ¼ mile inside the Art Park. A trail map is provided at the park gate. This program is free with regular park admission ($5 adult).
*July 14 drop-in times will be 2:00pm – 4:00pm
