Concerts in the Park Continue This Week

This week’s concerts feature Kirby Snively on Wednesday, August 1, and A Brighter Bloom on Friday, August 3. As always, the free concerts begin at noon in Petoskey’s Pennsylvania Park. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket, or enjoy the music from the benches provided.

One of Northern Michigan’s beloved folk artists, Kirby Snively, performs on Wednesday, August 1. Patrick Niemisto of the Third Coast Band hails Snively as “a rarity; the real deal in a world of pretense.” Snively has performed across Northern Michigan, from Blissfest to the Sleeping Bear Dunegrass and Blues Festival to Mackinaw Crossings. His talents include something for everyone: campfire sing-a-longs, songwriting and harmonica workshops, and programs for children and adults of all ages.

On Friday, August 3, indie folk-pop duo A Brighter Bloom, comprised of Lauren Onica and Todd Aldrich, perform in the park. After meeting at a local open-mic in 2014, Onica and Aldrich began making music together, and released their first album in 2017. A curiosity in self-reflection inspires their songwriting, supported by percussive layers, soaring harmonies, and entrancing energies.

Each Concert in the Park is held at noon, at the gazebo in Petoskey’s Pennsylvania Park. In the case of inclement weather, the concert will be held at Crooked Tree Arts Center.

The Charlotte Ross Lee Concerts in the Park are made possible by the generous support of local sponsors: Downtown Petoskey, Petoskey Area Visitors Bureau, Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce, Flowers from Sky’s the Limit, Great Lakes Energy, Meyer Ace Hardware, and Sturgeon River Pottery.
