Join Vittoria Katanski , Hatch Detroit Executive Director, and Ellie Schneider, DC3 Associate Director, as they discuss the exciting work their organizations are doing for small business incubation in Detroit.
Founded in 2011 by Ted Balowski and Nick Gorga – two passionate lovers of Detroit – Hatch Detroit was created to give others the opportunity to have a role in the redevelopment of Detroit. The Contest was built on an idea called “Crowd Entrepreneurship” where average citizens have a role in voting for the type of retail they want in their community, and determining the winner of the Hatch Contest. Since 2011, two winners have been announced, and several semi-finalists are in the process of opening.
DC3 is an organization with a targeted purpose: connecting assets to enhance the collective potential of Detroit’s creative community and grow Detroit’s economy. DC3 extends business acceleration service to Detroit’s creative community in partnership with TechTown and the region’s business incubators; helps existing businesses realize the potential of concentrating and growing operations in Detroit’s Creative Corridor; and develops unique programming that strengthen networks between creative practitioners in Southeast Michigan awhile reinforcing their essential role as an agent of social and economic change. DC3 is a partnership between Business Leaders for Michigan and the College for Creative Studies.
This event is free and open to the public.
