Charlevoix Circle of Arts, Dorothy Gerber Strings Program Holiday Concerts
Tis the season for strings as the students of the Dorothy Gerber Strings Program offer a bounty of holiday concerts. The season began with two recitals featuring private lesson students. Thirty-two students, from ages 4 through 17, performed solos for an enthusiastic audience at the Charlevoix United Methodist Church on November 16 and 17.
The Charlevoix Circle of Arts is the location of the next Dorothy Gerber Strings Program concert on December 1 at 4:00 pm. This collage concert will feature ensembles of students from a variety of schools within the Char-Em region. Beginning and intermediate students from Gerber classes in Charlevoix, East Jordan and Ellsworth will combine to start the program, followed by the Dorothy Gerber Youth Orchestra. The Cummings Quartet, the professional ensemble of the Gerber Program, will once again perform with and for the students.
The Dorothy Gerber Youth Orchestra will offer an encore performance for the residents of American House-Charlevoix on December 3 at 7:00. The program will include classical selections, including two featured soloists, as well as holiday favorites.
Performances by school-based Gerber Strings classes will be sprinkled throughout the region in the weeks that follow:
