Celebrate the opening of the newest segment of the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, July 2, at 10am at the Dune Climb.

The Dune Climb to Empire segment more than doubles the miles of trail bringing the total to 9.5 miles. In addition, the newly installed donor plaza, which recognizes donors of $1,000 or more, will also be unveiled.

The above photo of a family riding the new section of trail was taken by Kerry Kelly, a Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes Trail Ambassador.

Empire is along the shores of Lake Michigan where M-22 intersects with M-72, about 45 minutes from Traverse City.
