John Alberts, Jazz Poet, shares selections from his new book and CD during this celebration which includes a book signing.
Alberts enjoys an on-going career of performing with nationally known Jazz artists as well as performing solo for charity and cultural support events in the Charlevoix area.
Concluding a long career of public service as cultural arts chairman for the city of Pomona, he returned to his birth state. In 2008, he and his wife Raechel helped form the Charlevoix Circle of Arts; serving on the board and serving as facility and docent chairs.
Under the deft production touch of Jeff Haas and recording engineer Jack Conners; Jack Dryden on bass, Chris Lawrence on trumpet and Laurie Sears tripling on tenor sax, soprano sax and flute, all players who dominate the midwestern scene, unleash their improvisational skills to augment 17 of John’s poems.
“John’s collection includes poems from the last 18 years and it reads like a long-life’s work, rich in it’s reach as well as its language.” Barry Wallenstein, author of Drastic Dislocations; New and Selected Poems.
“He’s more rhythmic than Kerouac. John, you are a good and mad scribbler.” John D. Lamb, Song Writer and Director of Springfed Arts.
