Feathers and Flora: This unique exhibit features original paintings of the Kirtland’s Warbler, an endangered bird of Northern Michigan, accented with images of regional flora, landscapes, and buildings. The artists use both realistic and intuitive styles in watercolor and acrylic media. Paintings, prints, and cards are available for purchase at the show.

Janet Wilson Oliver, Acrylic and Watercolor Artist—Janet is the illustrator of a recently published book, Fire Bird: The Kirtland’s Warbler Story, which is available for sale at The Botanic Garden and other locations across the area. She has been featured at the Traverse City Opera House, the T.C. Art Mixer and the Members Show at Oliver Art Center in Frankfort. Her work is also found at Shoreline Arts in Sutton Bay.

Dorothy McGrath Grossman, Acrylic and Watercolor Artist—Dorothy recently launched her career as a local artist. Her work has been featured in the Traverse City Art Walk at McMillan’s Custom Framing, the Traverse City Opera House, the T.C. Art Mixer and the Members Show at Oliver Art Center in Frankfort. Her work is also found at Shoreline Arts in Suttos Bay.

Please join us for an Artist Reception on Friday, August 4th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Meet Janet and Dorothy, admire their lovely work and enjoy light snacks and refreshments.

The work of the Artist of the Month is on display in the upper level of the Visitor Center at the Botanic Garden. Please check in with the Gift Shop on the lower level. Visitor Center hours are Monday – Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM and Sunday from noon to 5 PM.
