By the year 2014 cancer has been alleviated, America has aged dramatically, and people are living into their 80’s with no natural end in sight. As they reap perpetual retirement benefits, and live securely on pensions that never envisioned longevity, the young people of the world simmer with the resentment toward them. Then, in 2010, an earthquake strikes Los Angeles that sets in motion an unthinkable option. This satiric novel by comedian-actor-director Albert Brooks is not exactly light reading, but should provoke lively discussion.
