The Petoskey District Library celebrates National Poetry Month with a book launch: poet-bard Terry Wooten launches a lifetime retrospective of poems, The Stone Circle Poems, on Thursday, April 9 at 7p.m. at the Carnegie Building, 451 E. Mitchell Street.
The Stone Circle Poems is comprised of 537 poems written over the past four and a half decades. Terry is a two-time recipient of Michigan Creative Artist Awards, as well as having been listed in the Michigan Arts and Humanities Touring Directory, and his Elders Project was awarded the 2013 State History Award in Education from the Historical Society of Michigan. Terry is also the creator of Stone Circle, a triple ring of 88 large boulders located near Elk Rapids, Michigan. Stone Circle grew as a Midwestern destination as Wooten’s poetry flourished. Wooten is a living legend on the Midwest arts scene, and his Stone Circle is a cherished institution which draws its audience from across the region and beyond.
Terry will recite some of his poetry and will be available to sign his books. More information about this event can be found at www.petoskeylibrary.org or by calling 231-758-3100.
