Glen Arbor Art Association (GAAA) artist-in-residence (AIR) Paul Rose talks about his two-week residency Thursday, Jan. 23, 7:30 p.m. at the GAAA, 6031 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor. Rose is the second photographer in as many years to request an AIR winter stay. While here, he’ll focused his digital camera on Glen Arbor and the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore – locations that typically attract artists during the warmer weather months rather than this cold, quiet season. Rose wanted to document people, places and things that “speak of the area,” confining his shooting not to the daylight hours, but taking a 24-hour approach. Rose received a BFA in photography from the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit. He is a resident of Fayette, an historic ore mining community located between Escanaba and Manistique, on Lake Michigan; and the final AIR resident of the 2013 season. For more information please call 231/334-6112. A detailed prospectus and application for the 2014 AIR season is available on the GAAA website: http://www.glenarborart.org/artists.asp
