Photos of Lake Huron, taken during a family vacation, caused portrait painter Charles Pompilius to consider a new direction for his work. The Ferndale resident talks about how he explored this mid-career transition during his Glen Arbor Art Association (GAAA) artist-residency on Aug. 28, 7:30 p.m., Glen Arbor Art Association, 6031 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor.

The GAAA Artist-In-Residence (AIR) program provides artists with two-week residencies. Pompilius’s residency began Aug. 17. AIRs use this time to focus on aspects of their practice without interruption. A presentation is scheduled at the end of each residency. Pompilius will talk about his “lakescapes” and show some of the plein air sketches and paintings, which will serve as reference for larger compositions.

The AIR presentation is open to the public without charge. For more information, please call 231/334-6112.
