Elizabeth Lane Oliver Center for the Arts’ Regional Student Exhibition is an annual favorite in the community. High School works are juried by special guest artists for display in the Beck Gallery, and area elementary and middle school works are accepted for display in the Borwell and Entrance Galleries.
Last year saw the exhibition’s highest number of participants from area schools including Frankfort-Elberta, Benzie Central, Interlochen, Mesick, Buckley, Bear Lake, Onekama, and Traverse City. Over 300 pieces were on display and visitors to the exhibition were thoroughly impressed with the level of excellence. 150 pieces were on display from Benzie County Elementary and Middle School students. “This exhibition grows every year and we are very lucky to be able to showcase the incredible talent of these students,” said Mercedes Michalowski, Executive Director.
The juror for this year’s exhibition is Sarah Bearup-Neal, Communications and Gallery Manager from the Glen Arbor Arts Center. This year’s exhibition is sponsored by Graceland Fruit.
Certificates of Excellence will be presented during the Exhibition Opening on Friday, April 6 from 5pm-7pm. In addition to the Certificates of Excellence, Olivet College in Olivet, Michigan has agreed to provide $3,000 visual arts scholarships (per year for incoming Olivet students) to each certificate winner. The Exhibition runs from March 30 to April 13.
