Glen Arbor watershed biologist Rob Karner takes Glen Arbor Arts Center visitors on a visual voyage aboard the good ship Discovery on Tuesday, July 17, 10 am., in the Glen Arbor Arts Center gallery, 6031 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor. Karner captains Discovery, a 22-foot pontoon boat that’s part of the Glen Lake Association’s water monitoring program. The July 17 program offers a look at its role in studying the Glen Lakes’ ecology and health. The presentation is free.
The Discovery Boat Program provides the public with a hands-on educational opportunity. When the Discovery launches, Karner takes guests on a cruise that engages riders in visual observation, water sampling, and getting to know the plants and animals who also call the Glen Lakes their home. Although he’ll be high and dry in the GAAC gallery for the July 17 presentation, Karner will illustrate the work Discovery and the Glen Lake Association are doing in the service of these beloved lakes.
This presentation is offered as part of the GAAC’s exhibition “New Views: Water = Life = Art.” The exhibition continues through August 4 in the GAAC gallery. For more information got to: GlenArborArt.org.
