The Short’s to Short’s Paddle is a sea kayak event spanning Antrim County’s lower Chain of Lakes from Bellaire to Elk Rapids. Together, the Intermediate River, Lake Bellaire, Grass River, Clam Lake, Torch Lake, Torch River, Lake Skegemog, Elk Lake and the Elk River make up the 27-mile course route.

Short’s Brewing Company started this event five years ago as a way to celebrate the many miles of beautiful, crystal clear water that stretch from their Bellaire Brewpub to their Elk Rapids Production Brewery.

6-7:30am Packet pick-up

8am Launch. Launch site is the public access site on the Intermediate River, behind Fischer Insurance in Bellaire.

$85 (through Apr. 30) registration includes t-shirt, a custom pint glass, a custom event logo sticker, course maps and other swag from the sponsors. Entry fee (new this year) helps cover some of the growing costs associated with this event. All remaining proceeds are donated to the non-profit groups that devote their time to care for the lakes and natural areas that the Short’s-2-Short’s Paddle traverses.

Bellaire is in Antrim County on M-88 between Lake Bellaire and Intermediate Lake.

Elk Rapids, on East Grand Traverse Bay and Elk Lake, is about 15 miles northeast of Traverse City on US-31.
