Little Traverse Civic Theatre opens August: Osage County this week ~~
On Thursday, April 19, Little Traverse Civic Theatre (LTCT) opens Tracy Letts’ Pulitzer Prize winning drama, August: Osage County with an 8 p.m. performance on Crooked Tree Arts Center’s stage.
The production, directed by Bob Brill and Susan Meads, centers on the dysfunctional Weston family of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, which is headed by their drug-addicted, co-dependent matriarch, Violet Weston. Promising dramatic twists and turns, August: Osage County navigates the topics of life, death, addiction, deception, love, and unresolved issues as family members are forced to confront their past secrets and present situation in the event of a missing family member. Due to subject matter and off-color language, August: Osage County may not be suitable for young viewers. The cast of August: Osage County includes Nikki Devitt, Chris Koury, Corinne Koury, Judy Wright, David Knitter, Justin Lewis, Amy Shumway, Ron Meyer, Alexandra Myers, Greg Hill, Esther Brill, Matthew Blythe, and Eva Leirstein, all of whom have performed in previous LTCT productions.
Show dates are April 19 – 22, and 26 – 28, and ticket prices are as follows: Adult $17; Student $12; Matinee $12. On Thursday, April 26, LTCT is teaming up with Crooked Tree Arts Center for another “Swirl & a Show” event. Those who purchase a $25 ticket to “Swirl & a Show” will be able to attend both CTAC’s Swirl from 5:30 – 7 p.m., and the 8 p.m. performance of August: Osage County that evening.
