The 18th Annual Day of Caring kicks off with a pancake breakfast for registered volunteer teams. This volunteer celebration honors the teams who have signed up to do a day of service in the five county area including Benzie, Antrim, Kalkaska, Leelanau and Grand Traverse Counties. We also honor our own Fire, Police, Veterans and Coast Guard for their service to our community at the Open Space in Traverse City at 8am.

Volunteers may sign up for projects at volunteernwmi.org. There are projects available for adoption for every age and ability. The United Way staff can help facilitate the match and work on the details with you. Projects do not have to be on Thurs. September 12, 2013! Volunteer teams and the nonprofit agency can work on a time that is best for all.

The Day of Caring has grown from 10 original teams 18 years ago to almost 800 volunteers in 2012. The benefits include team building and giving back to your community. Nonprofit agencies receive the much needed help with projects they would never have accomplished if not for the Day of Caring. And the whole community benefits from your service!
