Cherry Knoll Elementary School’s Silent Auction
This is an event you won’t want to miss, as it is an opportunity to show your support for the school while having a great time. The auction is happening on Saturday April 27 from 5pm – 9pm at Mt. Holiday, which is located at 3100 Holiday Road in Traverse City, Michigan.
The event $35 per person, which includes appetizers and a cash bar. There will be a variety of gifts available for silent auction, a live auction, and a 50/50 raffle, a costume contest, and gift baskets put together by the student body!
The event is a chance for the community to come together and support the school. The funds raised will go toward supporting educational and extracurricular opportunities for Cherry Knoll students. The PTO uses 100% of all profits to provide all students with equal opportunities and resources for staff.
In addition to supporting a great cause, the Silent Auction promises to be a fun and social evening. You’ll have the chance to mingle with other parents, meet members of the school staff, and bid on some amazing gifts.
So, mark your calendars and join us for an evening of fun and community spirit at Cherry Knoll Elementary School’s Silent Auction. We look forward to seeing you at Mt. Holiday!

🥣🎨 Why is Empty Bowls our favorite event? It’s more than just a gathering—it’s a heartwarming experience that brings our community together in so many ways:
👩🎨 Artists: Creative minds come together to craft beautiful bowls, each one a masterpiece filled with love and purpose.
🎶 Entertainers: Our event is not just about food; it’s about creating memories. New this year, inspired by the first Empty Bowls event held by a high school art class in Southeast Michigan over 34 years ago, the Coalition is partnering with area artists to provide live demonstrations and art available for purchase. Local entertainment will be showcased – including a presentation by Michael Sincic, a local watercolor artist who is blind.
🍽️ Restaurateurs: Local restaurants generously donate their delicious soups, showcasing the culinary talent of our community.
💙 Donors and Ticket Holders: Your support keeps our mission alive. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference in the lives of those in need. The cost for the event is $27 in advance or $33 at the door for adults, children 6-13 is $15, and children 5 and under are free.

And why did we choose Mt. Holiday? Not only is it one of Traverse City’s best-kept secrets (the wood-fired stove in the cozy bar…local beers…great food) but it also helps disadvantaged kids get off their couches and on the ski/snowboard hill. As a 501(c)3, Mt. Holiday provides free lessons, rentals, and more to school-age kids who utilize their school’s free lunch program. It’s a safe, fun place for kids who might not otherwise have anywhere to go during the winter.

No one fights to preserve a multiplex, but some people will risk everything to save a marquee. Through booms and busts, Delft Theatres Inc. – and its innovative gem, The Nordic – endured in Marquette Michigan for almost 100 years, even as the world changed endlessly around them. Local kid Bernie Rosendahl’s modern crusade to restore the historic arthouse to its former glory leads filmmakers to discover a hidden cinema empire in the Upper Peninsula.
Portraying the fascinating history of motion pictures through one iconic screen – and featuring dozens of real-life Marquette locations and characters – Marqueetown is the true story of chasing your dreams, redefining failure and success, and reembracing the enduring magic of cinema.
Written and Directed by Joseph Beyer and Jordan Anderson
Based on the work of Bernie Rosendahl
Executive Producers Kathleen Glynn ands Diana Milock
Associate Producers Terry Lynn Carrithers, Ward and Mary Gillette, Kathleen Verduin, Joe and Katie Anderson.

What comes to mind when you think of the word Inheritance? Often it is something tangible which is passed down through the ages from loved ones, a piece of property such as a family farm? Perhaps it could be a job or position in your community? How about your dimples, or your freckles? Is what you have inherited a blessing or a curse? Could it be a treasured possession such as your grandmother’s favorite jewelry which now holds great sentimental value to you? Maybe you inherited your sunny disposition from your father, while inheriting your mother’s beautiful singing voice? How are we tied to these things, and how will we pass them on? How do we keep it and honor it?
The Art & Storytelling event is one evening only, however the Artwork for the show is on display at the gallery from May 10th-June 1st.
