Pharmacy Support Aide


The pharmacy support aide works under the general direction of a pharmacy manager or coordinator and is an integral member of the pharmacy team. This person will be supervised at all times by clinical pharmacists and licensed pharmacy technicians. The primary duties will include cleaning various work areas according to regulatory compliance and assisting with non-licensure required pharmacy tasks. Non-licensure tasks may include answering phones, collecting and filing paperwork, auditing daily tasks are completed in electronic tracking software, participating in billing activities, participating in regulatory auditing, participating in daily huddles and meetings to stay current with pharmacy operations.


High School diploma (or G.E.D. equivalent). Experience with computers and typing skills required. Legible handwriting and/or printing. Numerical comprehension and mathematical skills. Ability to communicate verbally, comprehend verbal instructions, and have good telephone etiquette. Good vision, manual dexterity, and physical ability to stand the majority of the time. 


One to two years of pharmacy experience desirable. Basic knowledge of medications, medical nomenclature desired. ORGANIZATION 

Directly supervised by the on-duty clinical pharmacists and licensed pharmacy technician Reports to the Pharmacy Operations Manager/Coordinator.

  6. Answers phone calls with good verbal skills, takes messages, and refers phone calls to appropriate pharmacy personnel.

  7. Monitors daily reports, handles or brings to attention of appropriate designee.

  8. Coordinates storage of charging documentation for appropriate storage which allows access and retrieval.

  9. Cleans IV rooms following strict regulatory procedures.

  10. Performs general housekeeping continually to maintain a neat, clean, professional-appearing environment.

  11. Assists with various department audits as assigned.

  12. Performs secretarial duties as requested.

  13. Attends required continuing education programs and mandated in service/education.

  14. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
