Clinical Quality Data Analyst


The primary role of the Clinical Quality Data Analyst is to provide coordination of efforts to achieve outstanding performance on key metrics of quality and patient safety via effective metrics management and education of key stakeholders regarding data analytics. Maintains a systems awareness and aligns goals and priorities with current and future organizational goals when advocating for quality, safety & patient experience. Challenges and inspires self and others to seek quality goals beyond regulatory and accreditation mandates. Facilitates integration of key stakeholders into quality planning and work, fostering relationships across departments and disciplines that support patient-centeredness, with a key focus on development of quality/safety scorecards in order to facilitate regular performance review, accountability, and improvement.


§ Bachelor's degree in Biostatistics, Business, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Public Health, Operations Management, or other healthcare discipline required. Advanced degree and/or CBIP, CPHIMS, CPHQ, Data Mining or other relevant certification preferred.

§ A minimum of five years' experience in a health care setting preferred.

§ Demonstrated experience with performance improvement methodologies and data analytics.

§ Maintenance of membership in a recognized professional organization preferred.

§ Develops comprehensive knowledge of the clinical capabilities of Munson Medical Center as well as thorough knowledge of hospital organization and department functions.

§ Excellent interpersonal skills required. Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with a variety of customers while providing data and information to meet the organization's needs.

§ Ability to manipulate and analyze complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources and use analytical and integrative skills to formulate/draw conclusions and identify trends from data in a logical and systematic manner.

§ Demonstrated skill in data visualization, interpretation and story-telling

§ Requires independent judgment and action skills. Must maintain high level of confidentiality and ability to prioritize multiple tasks/activities.

§ Self-directed; able to work effectively and efficiently with multiple interruptions and changing work priorities. Strong organizational and time management skills required. Able to make quality, independent decisions using analytical and problem solving skills. Demonstrates initiative and creativity in assigned work. Highly detailed and team oriented.

§ Demonstrates knowledge of confidentiality as it pertains to HIPAA and the handling of information sensitive to Munson Healthcare.


Reports to the Director of Organizational Quality and Regulatory. Also has accountability to the System VP of Quality & Safety. Works in close collaboration with leaders across the organization, including the local Chief Medical Officer; Medical Staff Services; quality, safety, management, and infection prevention leaders, as well as Clinical and Business Intelligence and Continuous Improvement teams, and others. May work collaboratively with system leaders of quality.

  5. Facilitates and designs complex data integration models using data from various internal and external sources. Develops data visualizations in order to promote data- and performance-driven decision-making.

  6. Develops and implements methods and procedures for the collection, processing, compilation, editing, and analysis of statistical data.

  7. Leads development of quality/safety scorecards

· Convenes appropriate stakeholders

· Assists in development and definition of meaningful metrics, and establishes baselines, targets, and benchmarks (where available)

· Identifies appropriate data sources; assesses feasibility of obtaining data

  1. Designs, develops, and oversees routine production of scorecards and benchmarking tools. Produces, compiles, and publishes quality and safety scorecards for quality committees (to include MMC Board Quality Committee).

  2. Participates in activities of various hospital, system, or medical staff committees, CQI teams/work groups to promote healthcare quality.

  3. Provides education regarding data presentation and analysis to members of the Division of Quality & Patient Safety, and others across the organization/system as appropriate. Provides data and statistical expertise and guidance to others across the organization as necessary.

  4. Monitors/mentors multiple projects simultaneously by ensuring that appropriate statistical methods are adopted. Advises the Quality & Safety teams on the use of statistical software and appropriate choice of statistical methodology. Identifies and explains inferences that can and cannot be made from compiled data.

  5. Uses computer applications (QI Macros, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, relevant regulatory applications, etc.) efficiently and effectively.

  6. Demonstrates initiative and judgment in adapting or devising solutions to meet unexpected or unusual conditions.

  7. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
