Sylvania Wilderness

Though not technically a state park, the Sylvania Wilderness is an area maintained and protected by the National Forest Service. It emcompasses 18,000 acres -- or 30 square miles -- and contains 34 named lakes. The 50 camping spots are not gathered together, but spread along eight lakes. The wilderness is home to huge red and white pine trees and many threatened or endangered species, such as bald eagles, loons, and ospreys. 906-932-1330, Sylvania Wilderness
