Job Description



Develops, monitors and manages changes of the diagnostic scheduling module to assure sound structure, reliability and flexibility of all practice revenue generating resources for quickly meeting the demands of our patients, referrals, physicians, management and colleagues minimizing patient/ provider/staffing/ equipment interruptions and adjustments. Obtains a general knowledge of the complete point of service of diagnostic department process, requirements and procedures. Cross trains with patient service representative, prior authorization, and referral center within the practice.


  • Works collaboratively physicians, management and the revenue cycle team to ensure all required schedule structure information is acquired in a timely and accurate manner and that scheduling corrections or changes are handled in an efficient and effective manner. Offers alternative solutions for required changes to schedule.

  • Redesigns and communicates the diagnostic schedule structure to accommodate unplanned changes to resource availability, delays, new commitments, equipment failure, weather or other changes that may occur.

  • Utilizes each diagnostic department's documented future firm and tentative availability, develops and maintains the system scheduling structure, across the practice to include outreach, ensures a base for reliable and flexible management of revenue generating resources.

  • Develops methods to monitor scheduling structure's effectiveness and ability to handle change. Monitors the schedules for both current and future leveling requirements for all locations, to maximize the utilization of resources for patient care and revenue generation.

  • Cross trains with all positions within the point of service practice revenue cycle to include; prior authorization referral and call center and patient service representatives.

  • Participates in the development and upkeep of reports to identify scheduling opportunities and shortcomings to the management team and participates in the solutions.

  • Takes initiative in expanding job-related knowledge and skills to improve performance and adjust to change. Demonstrates an understanding of the medico legal implications and responsibilities related to patient records to protect the patient and the hospital, adhering to privacy and confidentiality mandates.

  • Performs other job-related functions as assigned.



  • Ability to understand scheduling complexities and develop a multi-facetted schedule structure that will fully and effectively utilize all revenue generating resources to include; physicians, mid-levels, locations, equipment, and other practice related resources.

  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement in structure and process related to scheduling.

  • Ability to operate computers and other equipment as specified, and troubleshoot as necessary. Must be able to send and receive e-mail.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision.

  • Ability to handle conflicts and confrontation.

  • Ability to multi-task under pressure with time constraints. Ability to concentrate with excellent listening skills.

  • Reports to work on time, as scheduled, and is reliable with low absenteeism, low tardiness. This is subject to change as the needs of the departments change.
