Residential Care Homemaker
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Documentation of successful completion of 75-hour nurse aide training program or equivalent; and/or passing score as defined by Munson Home Health on clinical and written competency exams.
Has had work or life experience as a homemaker. Six months experience as an aide in a home care setting preferred.
Understands hospice philosophy. Demonstrates comfort providing specialized care to the terminally ill.
Demonstrates ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English. Able to follow written and verbal instructions and to document care provided per those instructions.
Meets MHH established requirements for proof of health status. Physically able to lift 35 pounds. Demonstrates ability to move, position and transfer clients utilizing good body mechanics, lifting techniques and/or transfer assistive devices to avoid manipulating more than 35 pounds.
Meets Home Health and Medicare standards as evidenced by criminal background check and fingerprinting.

Promotes personal and patient safety.
Uses effective customer service/interpersonal skills at all times.
Performs various services for the residents as necessary to meet personal needs, promote comfort, and enable the resident to live in a comfortable environment.
a. Works by established procedures for homemaking/housekeeping including residential and public
areas: dusting, damp moping floors, cleaning windows, doors, walls furniture, bathrooms and kitchen, clean and dirty utility rooms per established schedules and as needed. b. Provides or assists residents in all aspects of personal care including baths, back rubs, oral care, shampoos, changing bed linen as part of the plan of care. c. Assists in dressing and undressing the resident as assigned.
d. Plans and prepares nutritious meals and feeds residents when applicable.
e. Handles soiled linens, disposes of hazardous waste and performs laundry as needed.
f. Prepares residents' rooms for new admissions buy using approved disinfectants and cleaning furnishings, floors, equipment and bathrooms.
g. Empties waste baskets, removes trash and soiled linens.
h. Follows the written therapy dog management plan.
i. Assists residents with transfers and safe ambulation.
j. Normal range of motions and positioning for comfort.
k. Respects residents' privacy and maintains dignity.
l. Provides emotional support to the terminally ill residents and families.
m. Completes thorough and timely documentation of care provided on the appropriate forms.
n. Complies with standard precautions, infection control and safety procedures.
Employees with e-mail are required to maintain proficiency in the basic functions of the program and are also required to regularly check email and keep calendars up to date.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
