Mgr Central Processing
Manages the day-to-day operations of the sterile processing department. Develops goals and objectives for the unit and assumes accountability for the achievement of these goals
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS 1. Bachelor's Degree in a pertinent field (science, nursing, business). 2. Minimum of two years of experience working in a sterile processing department or operating room. 3. Previous management experience preferred. 4. Certification in sterile processing obtained within 1 year of hire. 5. Familiar with surgical instrumentation, OR procedures, sterile processing including cleaning, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, & high level disinfection. 6. Knowledgeable about the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards. 7. Self-directed professional who is able to function autonomously in a leadership role to assist and support staff in decision-making and problem-solving issues required. 8. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 9. Ability to act as a professional role model. 10. Able to assess skill levels of new employees and determine extent and duration of orientation/training required. 11. Competent with Microsoft office (word/excel) and other basic computer skills.
ORGANIZATION Reports to the Director of Surgical Services.

Uses effective customer service/interpersonal skills at all times. 5. Acts as a resource for all aspects of cleaning, sterilizing and disinfecting instruments and equipment. 6. Supports and reinforces the necessary job skills and judgment of the staff for the process of decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, reprocessing and storage of sterile instruments. 7. Coordinates the work flow of all shifts (days, afternoons, midnights & weekends). 8. Plan, prepare, and manage the annual operational budget. 9. Achieve maximum production in a cost effective manner. 10. Keeps informed of current trends in sterile processing. 11. Plans assignments, provides resources and establishes priorities for the staff. 12. Hires, motivates and evaluates staff performance. 13. Payroll and timekeeping records for unit employees. 14. Facilitates problem resolution and initiates corrective action as necessary. 15. Maintains compliance with hospital policies, applicable laws, accreditation and regulatory requirements. 16. Maintains employee education files including annual education requirements and employee orientation competencies. 17. Accountable for department efficiencies and the appropriate utilization of resources. 18. Actively supports and provides leadership in unit Quality Assurance and Education programs. 19. Participate in management meetings, professional development training, and pertinent committee meetings. 20. Maintains own professional growth, demonstrates awareness of new trends in practice, analyzes those trends for applicability to the unit, shares new information with others, and participates in appropriate educational offerings. 21. Subject to potential hazards of ETO sterilization, hot machinery and equipment, pathogens, detergents and cleaning solutions. 22. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
