May 4 | Around the Table: Live Stories of Food & Cooperation | Traverse City 

Celebrate 50 years with Oryana! Oryana Community Co-op and Expand Storytelling are teaming up for this live storytelling event at City Opera House. The show features a diverse lineup of local storytellers who will share personal stories around themes of natural food and cooperation, as well as music by Seth Bernard. All proceeds from the event go toward the Northwest Food Coalition. The show starts at 7 p.m.; happy hour starts at 5 p.m. 

May 5 | Designer Wagyu Beef & Boutique Wine Dinner | Traverse City

Treat yourself to this special wine-paired dinner at Boathouse Restaurant, featuring an exclusive 5-course meal with designer Wagyu beef and boutique wine. Reservations are required; dinner starts at 6 p.m.

May 5 | The Austin Stoddard Jazz Quartet | Williamsburg

The Music House Museum is welcoming The Austin Stoddard Jazz Quartet back to the stage! Students at Interlochen Arts Academy will perform original arrangements featuring the music of Bill Evans, an American jazz pianist and composer, prolific in the ‘60s and ’70s.

May 5-6 | Comedy with Bill Bushart | Traverse City 

Head to Traverse City Comedy Club for an evening of laughs with Bill Bushart. A seasoned professional, Bushart has performed at the prestigious Odd Ball Comedy Fest, LaughFest in Grand Rapids and headlined Michigan’s Brew HaHa. He’s a driving force in the Michigan stand-up community and has performed at venues across the Midwest.

May 6 | North Sky Raptor Sanctuary Silent Auction | Traverse City 

Stop by Silver Spruce Brewing this weekend to support North Sky Raptor Sanctuary with a silent auction and meet-and-greet with some of their ambassador birds. The fundraiser kicks off at 1 p.m. with a variety of items to bid on such as local art, gift certificates and more. Proceeds from the event go toward plans to expand the sanctuary’s rehabilitation clinic and ICU, as well as to support the ongoing treatment of patients at the facility.

May 6 | Brews & Beats Festival | Pentwater 

Rain or shine, this festival boasts an afternoon of live performances, yard games and food trucks all while sampling brews, wines and ciders from some of Michigan’s best craft beverage makers. Move and groove to music by Two Dudes In Flip Flops and The All American Funk Parade from noon to 5 p.m. under a heated tent at the Village Green. 

May 6 | Guided Wildflower Hikes

April showers bring May flowers! Experience the mark of spring in Northern Michigan with a guided hike where you will learn about early bloomers, explore different wildflower habitats and the surrounding woods. Call 248-931-9440 for location and more information.

May 6 | Derek Randall, Drew Hale Band and Larz Cabot | Traverse City 

It’s Derek Randall’s debut at Encore 201 in downtown Traverse City, so he’s teaming up with a few Northern Michigan audience favorites, Drew Hale and Larz Cabot.

May 6-7 | Maya Anjali Buchanan Concert | Traverse City 

The Traverse Symphony Orchestra Maestro season wraps up with a performance at Historic Barns Park by Violinist Maya Anjali Buchanan, a young rising star from the Curtis Institute of Music. TSO Maestro and Pianist Kevin Rhodes will accompany her. Expect limited seating and a full cash bar, courtesy of Tonic & Lime. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday.

May 6 | Ben Traverse House Concert | Cadillac 

Have a relaxing evening at this house concert featuring Ben Traverse, a traditional folk singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and audio engineer with deep roots in Michigan.
