Stationary bikes are so 2020. Celebrate bike month with Norte by getting outside as they offer group treks, community events and tune-ups to bikes old and new all May long.
All Month | Get Your Bike Rolling at the Community Bike Shop
At the Community Bike Shop, Norte shares tools, work-bench space, bikes, and knowledge. The Clubhouse’s Community Bike Shop is free to all Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
May 1 | Bicicleta Launch At Silver Spruce
Silver Spruce Brewing Company, a Norte Business Champion, is re-launching their delicious “Bicicleta” brew May 1 and offering it for only one month in celebration of Northern Michigan Bike Month. $1 from each pint will benefit Norte.
May 2 | Previously Loved Bicycle Yard Sale
Norte’s annual yard sale is open to the public. The public is invited to come to sell an old bike or pick up a previously loved set of wheels for themselves. Proceeds support Norte’s Kids Bike Library.
May 3 | Norte Youth Mountain Bike Team Practice
The Grand Traverse Region Mountain Bike Team hits the trails of northern Michigan with sensational elementary, middle, and high school students. The season runs through June 4.
May 5 | Northern Michigan Bikes To School Day
The 2021 Northern Michigan Bikes To School Day is a region-wide, multi-school celebration of National Bike To School Day. It could quite possibly be the most fantastic day of kids on bikes in northern Michigan history.
May 7 | Fantastic Fridays
A weekly celebration of students walking and rolling to school in Northern Michigan. Fantastic Fridays take place every Friday until summer vacation.
May 9 | Norte Family Trail Rides
This is a family-friendly, weekly mountain bike ride in the woods. It’s family speed, but getting dirty and meeting new friends is encouraged. May 9 marks kickoff with the 5th Annual Take A Mom Mountain Biking Day. This ride happens every Sunday at noon beginning May 9.
May 10 | Adventure Bike Club
After School Adventure Bike Club hits the streets and trails on May 10 across northern Michigan. Sensational upper elementary and middle school students ride with trained Norte coaches, learning confidence and skills.
May 15 to 16 | 24 Hours at the Civic Center
Celebrate the Grand Traverse Civic Center with Norte’s annual walk and roll-a-thon. From noon on Saturday, May 15 to noon on Sunday, May 16, the goal has people walk and roll in support of Norte.
May 18 to 21 | Eats By Bike Week
How many northern Michigan restaurants can you visit by bicycle in a week? Hop on your bike and get ready for Eats by Bike Week!
May 21 | Kids v. Adults—A Bike Off
As part of Traverse City Bike Month, Norte once again brings you a very friendly Kids vs. Adults competition for National Bike To Work Day on Friday, May 21.
May 22 | Norte TuneUp at the Senior Center
The bike empowers folks from all walks of life to maintain health, independence, and gain confidence. Norte TuneUp at the Senior Center will fix up old bikes to get more people rolling for the summer.
May 23 | VIP Slow Roll
All Business Champions, el Colectivo and Otwell Hub members with families and friends welcome. Norte volunteers will guide the group on an easy VIP Slow Roll around Traverse City. Along the way, we’ll tell stories, get to know one another, and ding, wave and smile at passersby.
