The 2020/2021 winter season brings improvements and changes to Northern Michigan’s Shanty Creek Resort, many to keep guests and staff safe in the era of COVID-19.

Located in Bellaire, just northeast of Traverse City, Shanty Creek Resorts offers a variety of winter experiences for the entire family. The three distinct villages within the resort—Summit, Schuss and Cedar River—have everything from downhill to cross country skiing, terrain parks and tubing. Boasting friendly guest service and everyday low rates, Shanty Creek Resort offers the opportunity for a spectacular winter getaway. And to continuously offer the best experience possible to guests and visitors, Shanty Creek Resort is making the following changes for the upcoming winter season:

  • New Nordic Equipment
Shanty Creek and Rossignol have once again partnered to update the fleet of Nordic rental equipment (skis, boots, poles). There will also be an additional line of snowshoes for those looking for new ways to get outside this winter.
  • Pre-Set Rentals and Touchless Transactions
Plan ahead and have rental equipment ready and waiting. Submit a simple online form and pay in advance for this quick, easy and touchless transaction. For guests staying at select Shanty Creek lodging properties, rentals can be delivered to your room.
  • Electronic Waivers
To save time, and fewer touchpoints keeping all guests and staff safe, all waivers have been moved online.
  • Seasonal Rentals
Perfect for those who plan to rent equipment multiple times during the season, go seasonal instead. Get rental equipment early in the season and keep it until the season is over.
  • New Food Truck, CoffeeBAR and Curbside Pickup
Due to coronavirus precautions, Ivan’s and The River Bistro will have limited seating capacity, however, Shanty Creek is excited to offer some new options.
    • For grab-n-go dining, a new food truck will be parked near the base of the Yellow or Pink lift.
    • A new to-go window on the slopeside of Ivan’s will offer grab-n-go options, plus heated outdoor dining.
    • Online ordering options with curbside pickup at The River Bistro and The Lakeview.
    • The new CoffeeBAR, proudly serving Starbucks at The Lakeview Hotel, has created new options for breakfast and lunch.

To continue to be compliant with CDC guidelines, Shanty Creek asks all guests to wear a face-covering when inside any building. Skiers and snowboarders are asked to wear a face-covering and maintain the 6 feet social distancing guidelines when in line for a chairlift.
