With schools closed and being active as a family unit more critical than ever, the Traverse City nonprofit Norte is organizing a community activity challenge to raise awareness for happy, healthy families. With the help of Mark Wilson and the team from Maxbauer’s Meat Market, this May will see the return of the Mark Wilson 100 Mile Walk Challenge.

Mark Wilson’s 100 Mile Walk is a month-long community campaign meant to raise awareness for healthy lifestyles, walkable communities and all the benefits of incorporating movement into ordinary life. It challenges people of all ages and abilities to walk 100 miles outside during the month of May—that’s about 3 miles a day. “Life is stressful right now. We’ve all had to adjust to a new way of living, parenting, doing business. Let’s put some focus on ourselves and our health for the month of May. If I can do it, you can. I felt great last May during the 100 Mile Walk so why not let’s do it again!” Mark says.

This virtual challenge is tracked using the free fitness app, Strava. For more information and to register for the Mark Wilson 100 Mile Walk Challenge, visit: elgruponorte.org/markwilson
