Explore the depths of Lake Michigan with author and shipwreck hunter Ross Richardson at Milliken Auditorium on February 19. The program, “Exploring the W.C. Kimball, a Manitou Mysteries Shipwreck Adventure” is presented by the Grand Traverse Lighthouse Museum.

Journey to the waters off Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and explore the history and mystery of the Manitou Passage, one of the Great Lakes’ deadliest passes. An undiscovered fleet of ghost ships lies off the rugged coast, just waiting to be found. This program will highlight the newly discovered mystery schooner thought to be one of the most intact shipwrecks on the planet.

Author and shipwreck hunter Ross Richardson has spent the last two decades exploring Lake Michigan and documenting new shipwreck discoveries. He was a member of the Benzie Area Public Safety Dive Team for nearly a decade, working in conjunction with the Benzie County Sheriff’s Department. He has written two books about Michigan’s history and unsolved mysteries and created the popular website Michigan Mysteries.

This Northern Michigan event is a fundraiser for the Grand Traverse Lighthouse Museum. All proceeds will benefit the ongoing restoration and preservation of the historic lighthouse in Northport and its surrounding property. Tickets to the program are $10 in advance and $15 at the door (if tickets are still available). Tickets are available at MyNorthTickets.com.
