Hunt for the Reds of October | Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail | Weekdays in October

The Leelanau Peninsula has become well-known for its riesling and other cool-climate varietals. What is often missed, though, are the high-quality red wines being produced in the region. Sip incredible red wines and soak up views of peak fall color. Tickets include a signature wine glass, a complimentary red wine pour at more than 20 wineries and a $5 donation to the American Red Cross.

Marquette’s Haunted Hayride | Marquette County Fairgrounds | October 17–19

Take a ride through a terrifying maze filled with spooky characters. You won’t know when or where they’re going to pop up, or what scary scene will be next, but this will be a ride like no other. We’re looking forward to seeing you…but when will you see us? Bwaahhhaaahhhaaaaaaa!

Phantom of the Opera | Music House Museum, Williamsburg | October 18–19

The Music House Museums’s silent film series continues with this horror classic just in time for Halloween! The Phantom of the Opera is a 1925 American silent horror film adaptation of Gaston Leroux’s 1910 novel of the same name. It was directed by Rupert Julian and starred Lon Chaney, Sr. in the title role of the deformed Phantom who haunts the Paris Opera House, causing murder and mayhem in an attempt to make the woman he loves a star.

Under the Harvest Moon | Erickson Center for the Arts, Curtis | October 19

It’s finally fall at Erickson Center for the Arts. Enjoy an evening celebrating the harvest season, beginning with cocktails then continuing to a delicious dinner. To top it all off, dance the night away underneath the harvest moon with the Westerly Winds Big Band.

Trip to Hogwarts | Painting with a Twist, Traverse City | October 19

Experience a little bit of magic right here in Traverse City. Arrive at the entrance of Diagon Alley, browse the bookstore, pick a wand, visit the candy shop and check out the magical creatures! Travel to the train station to get your ticket punched to arrive at platform 9 3/4 to be transported to Hogwarts. You then will be sorted into your houses, take a potions class or send a letter out of the owlery! Open to all ages, costumes welcome. (Please note this event is at Painting with a Twist but is not a painting class.)

Frankenstein | West Shore Community College, Scottville | October 24–27

Take a trip to the icy polar regions where scientist Victor Frankenstein has chased the creature he brought to life. This highly theatrical and emotional play traces Dr. Frankenstein’s path to the final confrontation with his intelligent, articulate, sensitive and powerfully violent child.

BDM Halloween Party | Beire de Mac, Mackinaw City | October 24

Just below the Mackinac Bridge, Biere de Mac is throwing a Halloween Party to remember! Dress up for a chance to win the costume contest, enjoy a spectacular appetizer buffet from Chef Edgar and boogy with DJ Mike Wildord at the spooky dance party.

MT. Holiday Halloween Party | Mt. Holiday, Traverse City | October 26

An old tradition resurrected, Mt. Holiday is throwing a very scary and exciting Halloween party. Dancing, drinks and a hot dog bar are just a few reasons to attend. Grab your best costume and support Mt. Holidays operation costs for the year.

Celebrate Halloween and Day of the Dead! After a scary trip through the haunted hotel and a trip to the Mexican buffet, enjoy music from the Broom Closet Boys and DJ Eddie. Stay late…the pizza bar opens at 11 p.m.

Angels and Demons | Great Lakes Center for the Arts, Bay Harbor | October 27

The Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra and award-winning Crooked Tree Arts Center School of Ballet take the stage for a remarkable collaboration, featuring a musical vignette based on Edgar Allan Poe’s Mask of the Red Death. Also featured, Schubert’s Death and the Maiden and Ravel’s Pavane for a Dead Infanta.

Murder Mystery Party | 123 Speakeasy, Traverse City | October 28

This murder takes place in the dark underbelly of Prohibition-era Traverse City. A collection of bootleggers, gangsters, G-men, flappers and molls will be competing to solve a murder before the night is through. Guests will all receive their character’s name and some costuming suggestions. Bonus challenges and games are included in the program with prizes awarded at the end of the evening.

Zombie Prom | Manton Pines Event Center, Manton | November 2
