The 100% dapper, 100% in tune Cherry Capital Men’s Chorus presents the Harvest of Harmony on Saturday, September 14 from 7–9:30 p.m.

The 53rd annual show at Central High School Auditorium in Traverse City will include performances by the Cherry Capital Men’s Chorus—a barbershop chapter, chapter quartets and two award-winning ensembles: Frontier, the 2018 BHS Next Generation Youth Quartet Champions, and the Grand Traverse Show Chorus, 2019 SAI Region 2 Small Chorus Champions.

In the early 1960s, 12 prominent men gathered at the Park Place Hotel for the first meeting of the Cherry Capital Chorus. Since then chapter membership has grown, and at one time, membership grew to 75 dedicated men ranging from 14 to 84 years old.

From that historic first meeting in 1966 to the 50th Anniversary of the June Night of Harmony, hundreds of men have raised their voices in song. In 2017, the annual June Night of Harmony transitioned into a fall “Harvest of Harmony,” which you can enjoy September 14.

Tickets are available online at or call 800.836.0717.

What is barbershop? Musically speaking, barbershop harmony is a style of unaccompanied singing with four voices harmonizing around a theme or melody.

Was barbershop harmony actually sung in barbershops? Certainly, and on street corners, at social functions and in parlors.

Want to be a barbershopper? It’s never too late! Stop by rehearsal any Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church on Airport Access Road. “You’ll be as welcome as the flowers in May.”
