The vintage tea parties at Applesauce Inn B&B in Bellaire are a step back in time—high tea at an early 1900s farmhouse, sipping out of delicate teacups and nibbling on the classiest of finger foods.

The scene is a dream: little bundles of bite-sized food stacked on towers, vintage teacups with floral designs and pastel colors and fruit-infused water adorned with edible flowers. The table is set with lace linens and endearingly mismatched tableware in a farmhouse decorated in maximalists’ dreams.

B&B owner Jamie Creason gives the warmest welcome, inviting visitors to explore the backyard gardens, the wrap-around covered porch and the chicken coop. She says the tea parties are meant for laughter and conversation, truly enjoying the company of those you are with. Jamie makes all of the food herself, using as many fruits, vegetables and herbs from her garden as possible. The tea is made with Tazo tea bags, specially paired and blended by Jamie and put into teapots with intricate designs and smooth ceramic finishes.

The parties let guests relax and indulge, feeling not of this world but of another. One might find homemade cucumber sandwiches, meat and cheese pinwheels or cake and frosting bites. The house is cozy, filled with knickknacks, vintage furniture and homemade preserves. The perfect haven for a rainy spring day, a midst of summer drought, a cool fall day or a dead of winter freeze.

Particularly involved in her local community, Jamie is on the Bellaire Chamber of Commerce Board and supports local businesses like herself any time she can. She wears an apron and a smile, always ready for the next B&B adventure. Her food is delicious and her spirit welcoming: it’s like she was made to do this.

The B&B can fit up to six guests in three bedrooms, one on the first floor and two on the second. Jamie makes breakfast in the morning—fresh eggs from her few dozen chickens—and dessert in the evening. She also hosts cooking classes, private brunches and events like family reunions or intimate weddings.
