The Harbor View Cafe in Charlevoix burned down on January 3, 2018. Owners Chuck and Elizabeth Schilling are thrilled to announce the restaurant will be reopening soon—they hope December 26, but watch Facebook for updates.

Below is a note from the Schillings.

We are pleased to announce the grand reopening of the Harbor View Cafe. On January 3, a fire broke out and destroyed the restaurant and neighboring businesses. As we prepare for the opening, we are thankful to the first responders who worked heroically through the night to extinguish the fire at sub-zero temperatures while ensuring no one was injured. We would like to thank the Oleson’s who have been wonderful during the rebuilding process; Sam Bingham Insurance agency, who stood by us over the past year; and our employees, who have been here with us along this journey.

The restaurant will have the same hometown feel with fantastic artwork by Edith Pair as well as minor menu changes, including daily specials and an every day special featuring 25% off of any entree for first responders, law enforcement and active military, with proper ID. So please come and check us out as we start the next chapter in the more than 60 years that a restaurant existed on this site! —The Schillings
