Blustone Vineyards was selected as “Michigan’s favorite” in multiple categories in the 2018 Reader’s Choice Awards hosted by Michigan By the Bottle.

The Leelanau Peninsula winery won eight out of twelve awards including the coveted “Favorite Michigan Winery.” Blustone also won favorite red, white, rosé, sparkling and dessert wines, as well as hard cider.

The month-long online contest is one of the only polls decided solely by consumers’ votes with wineries from across the state being nominated in 12 categories.

Tom Knighton, owner of Blustone, says he would have been thrilled to have won one award but was stunned to learn the winery walked away with eight. “It means a lot that so many people appreciate what we’re doing at Blustone and took the time to go online to not only nominate us but to vote for us in all these categories.”

Asked if there was one award that stood out above the rest, Knighton said the “Favorite Tasting Room Staff” was particularly meaningful. “Our entire team comes to work every day with the goal of making a personal connection with our guests as they’re sharing our wines with them. They’re the ones who make the Blustone experience something special.”

Blustone Vineyards is located at 780 N. Sylt Road in Lake Leelanau and is open year round for tasting or sharing a glass around the fire.
