‘Tis the season to be scared. Many fright fans travel far and wide to experience the best haunted houses in the state. The annual Howl-O-Scream Haunted House brings people to U.P. every year for a night of thrills and chills at the Meadowbrook Arena in L’Anse.
This fright night attraction started in 2009 in a residential garage to raise funds for a youth center. From there, it was moved to the Whirl-i-Gig, which transformed the ballroom into a maze of scary rooms. The event was then donated to Meadowbrook Arena for fundraising where it continues to scare year after year.
What should you expect besides a sleepless night afterward? Teens and adults will wander through a maze of terrifying rooms and hallways with a scare at every turn. The anticipation of escape and the horror of the creatures in the night will keep your heart pounding.
If you don’t think you can handle it, fear not, there’s a Kids Howl-o-Scream Haunted House for children 12 and under on October 19. Tickets are $5.
