Fall is in the air and Northern Michigan orchards are busy harvesting bushels of fresh, ripe apples in preparation for the 40th Annual Apple Fest taking place in downtown Charlevoix October 12–14.
The festival will run Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.–6 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. at three downtown locations: East Park, Bridge Park and Mason Street. The event is free for all ages, and the perfect place for family and friends to gather and enjoy the fall color around Round Lake Harbor.
Area orchards will be set up in East Park with more than 30 types of apples and a variety of fall harvest items and apple related goods, while local non-profit organizations will be on site to tempt you with delicious hot food and tasty treats. The special Fall Farm Market will have fresh bagels, mustard, honey, meat, baked goods, soup, maple syrup, crepes, cider, mums, pies, jam and fall veggies—all locally grown and produced.
And don’t forget to stop by the Apple Fest booth on Bridge Street next to the clock tower to purchase your 2018 commemorative Apple Fest shirt. All proceeds from shirt sales benefit the Charlevoix High School Art Department.
The fall harvest celebration includes fun for the entire family. You won’t want to miss the expanded Art & Craft Show taking place all three days. Artist booths will be located in East Park, Bridge Park and on Mason Street. In total, there are more than 165 exhibitor booths bursting with one-of-a-kind creations. The show offers the work of artists and craftsmen from around the country and is a great chance to kick off the holiday shopping season.
The children’s area will be located on Mason Street on Saturday and Sunday. Bring the family for a variety of activities including a petting farm, face painting, Twister Joe balloon artist and more.
Avoid traffic by taking advantage of the Apple Fest shuttle service being provided by the Charlevoix County Transit. The shuttle is free and will drop passengers off in downtown Charlevoix during festival hours. Shuttle parking and pick up locations are being finalized, so contact the Chamber for more information or visit the website for updates.
