This riverfront condominium, completely customized by Kitchen Choreography, is proof that you don’t have to make lifestyle sacrifices to live in the downtown area. Angela Goodall, co-owner and lead designer at Kitchen Choreography, first met the Londys in 2008 when they were looking to purchase and renovate a condo in Manistee. That purchase didn’t work out, but some 10 years later found the homeowner-design team working together on this downtown Traverse City condo.

The Londys took their design inspiration from the timelessly sophisticated architecture and interiors of ancient Europe. To that end, warm tones are used throughout the home, including buttercream and alder-glazed cabinetry in the kitchen and a cranberry-red hutch in the dining room. The alder is repeated in a wet bar that houses Frank’s collection of noteworthy libations. A full, custom walnut wine cellar adjacent to it showcases Kelly’s love of wine.

Brick tiles, compass inlays and tin ceilings are among the must-see details in this home. The wood flooring, created by Heritage Wood Floors, is 5-inch planked oak with a wire-brushed treatment to give texture to the surface and depth to the finish. The island Fusion quartzite countertop, one of the prize design elements in the condo, was brought in through the neighboring condo wall (which was still under construction) so it could be installed flawlessly and in one piece.

The upstairs whole-floor master suite is another don’t-miss. Here the theme is classic black and white, with a pop of red—including a red-painted claw foot tub. A small woodstove tucked into a cozy nook is the perfect spot for enjoying coffee and a book on cold winter mornings. Frank plans to tend his bees on the downtown rooftop deck—a deck that also offers a gorgeous view of the Boardman River and the historic Sixth Street neighborhood.
