Memorial Day Weekend Events Across Northern Michigan

Car shows, special dinners, a marathon, and so much more is happening May 25–28 in Northern Michigan! Check out these Memorial Day weekend events and plan your vacation.

May 25–27 | Warblers on the Water

Bring your binoculars, board The Emerald Isle ferry, and hop on over to Beaver Island for a weekend of birding field-trips, ornithology presentations, and great company. Presentations are free and open to the public. Here’s the Warblers on the Water schedule.

May 25–27 | Cherry Capital Comic Con

Celebrating 10 years, Cherry Capital Comic Con C4 is Northern Michigan’s largest comic book and pop entertainment expo. Located at the scenic Grand Traverse Resort, C4 is an exciting gathering of comic book creators, exhibitors, and fans. Kids 10 and under FREE with paid adult! Tickets are available at Friday night preview $5; Saturday $15; Sunday $10; weekend pass $25.

May 25 | 2 Wineries – 2 Winemakers – 1 Great Restaurant

Michigan meets Italy is this wine paired, five-course dining experience. Two local award-winning wineries, Black Star Farms and Bel Lago, and their acclaimed winemakers, Lee Lutes and Charlie Edson, join Pepenero Ristorantino Italiano in Traverse City. Each course of Chef Giorgio’s specially curated menu based on authentic Italian/Sicilian cuisine will be accompanied by two wines of similar style, varietal or vintage. The winemakers will talk about what makes their wines comparable, yet also uniquely distinctive.Tickets, available at, cost $85

May 25 & 26 | British Legends

Toronto’s top tribute singers look and sound like the actual British Legends they portray—Paul McCartney, Elton John, Adele, and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin! There is no prerecorded singing or music. All of the performers are backed up by the same four-piece band and two backup singers. The group travels across Canada and the United States, and are making two stops in Northern Michigan! Catch them on Friday at the Boyne City Performing Arts Center or Saturday at the Cadillac High School Auditorium. Tickets for both shows are available at for $32–$35.

May 26 | Leland Air

From 10 a.m.–4 p.m., artists will be seen painting in and around picturesque Leland capturing images of historic Fishtown, views of orchards and vineyards, spectacular terrain, and beautiful beaches. Plein air artists from the region and beyond have been invited to participate in this event. A reception and sale of paintings “fresh off the easel” will take place from 6–8 p.m, at the Old Art Building. Artists donate 40 percent of art sales to the Old Art Building. May 26 | Manton Car Show

Bring out your favorite ride and share it with others. Prizes will be awarded at 1:30 p.m. Cost is $10 early registration or $15 for day of event registration. There will be a craft show, Chinese auction, and door prizes. The show runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Manton Station City Park.

May 26 | Michigan Beer & Brat Festival

Kick off summer at Crystal Mountain’s Memorial Day weekend tradition. Enjoy live entertainment while sampling an enormous selection of Michigan’s finest microbrews, local hard cider, mead, wine, and gourmet brats from Northwest Michigan markets. The festival runs from 4–8 p.m. General admission costs $30 and VIP is $60. Tickets are available at

May 26 | Northport Cars in the Park

Northport Cars in the Park has been held annually on Memorial Day weekend since 1998. The show opens at 10 a.m. and awards are at 3 p.m. Spectators get in free! Located at Haserot Park in Northport.

May 26 | Stafford’s Top of Michigan Marathon

In addition to the marathon, the event includes a half marathon, 10k run/walk event, and two 5k run/walk events. Online registration ends May 23.

May 26 | Bayshore Marathon

The 2018 Bayshore half marathon and 10k have filled. Spots still remain in the marathon.

May 27 | First Annual Taste of Bay Harbor

Chefs from each restaurant in Bay Harbor will provide a tasting menu featuring specialties from their establishment. Tastings will take place on the Marina Lawn in the Village at Bay Harbor with complimentary summer refreshments and live music by the Galactic Sherpas. Guests also have the opportunity to view an exciting collection of vintage military vehicles exhibited on Main Street in the Village. Proceeds from this event will benefit veterans in Emmet and Charlevoix counties. The event runs from noon to 3 p.m. Tasting tickets cost $25.

From 12:30–2:30 p.m., VIP participants will enjoy a gourmet cooking demonstration at each of the following locations: The Inn at Bay Harbor, Bay Harbor Yacht Club, Bay Harbor Golf Club, and a private yacht with the great foodini Renee Chodkowski at the Village Marina. Shuttles will take guests to each of the four locations during a two-hour time period. Early sign-up is encouraged, as space is limited to 100 participants. VIP tickets cost $100.

May 28 | Harbor springs Memorial Day 5k

A small-town celebration with pancakes at the American Legion, 5k run/walk, and parade followed by the waterfront ceremony. Entry fees go to the Harbor Springs Area Food Pantry; a suggested donation of $10 per participant with larger donations greatly appreciated. Race details.

May 28 | 1918 Cellars Grand Opening

Join Castle Farms in Charlevoix from 11 a.m.–6 p.m. as they celebrate their new tasting room. Enjoy live music on the patio and watch the official ribbon cutting while sampling the new 1918 Cellars wine. With eight selections to choose from, guests are sure to find a few favorites.
