An Indie Lens Pop-Up Screening of Tell Them We Are Rising | February 8

This movie explores the pivotal role historically black colleges and universities have played over the course of 150 years in American history, culture, and identity. The free event starts at 7 p.m. and is a part of the Dennos Museum Film Series.

Celebrity DreamRoom Classic | February 9

Join Golden-Fowler Home Furnishings for a golden evening of style, color, and comfort to benefit Child & Family Services of Northwestern Michigan. Attendees visit each DreamRoom and cast votes for their favorite room (or rooms). Romance Guaranteed | February 9–24

A romantic comedy in the age of the internet. After connecting through a computer dating service, a mismatched couple meets for their first date in a seedy Detroit restaurant. The woman, a nervous introvert, and the man, a wildly eccentric extrovert, gradually get to know each other with the help of their wise-cracking waitress. 42nd Annual North American Vasa | February 10–11   

The Annual North American Vasa returns with various race formats, distances, and combinations for all abilities.

Natalie MacMaster & Donnell Leahy | February 10

Winter Microbrew & Music Festival | February 10

This year the event is at Mount Mancelona, a historic ski hill and lodge just north of Mancelona. The festival will offer new activities like snowshoeing to a rare-beer tasting tent and professional snowboard and ski aerial viewing plus the great music and tasty brews you’ve come to expect! Grand Traverse Art Bomb – Encore Reception | February 10            

This is a collaborative art show featuring talent from across Northern Michigan. The show runs until April 7 at Right Brain Brewery and will feature three reception events throughout the show’s duration. Each reception will have music and performance art throughout the day. Enjoy a tasty beer and mingle with some of the creative minds in the area!

The Birdland All-Stars featuring Tommy Igoe | February 25

Hitting the road for the first time in five years, Grammy and Reader’s Poll winning drummer Tommy Igoe has put together an incredible music experience featuring musicians from both coasts of the USA. NMC Children’s Choir Winter Concert  | February 25
