Planetary Coffee has a new home base in downtown Traverse City where it will continue its mission of serving out-of-this-world seasonal coffee, espresso, craft beverages, and pastries.

The coffee truck’s proprietors, Emily Wilensky and Erik Harms, have been busy making arrangements to launch their first brick and mortar operation. After over six months of searching for the perfect location, the husband and wife duo are excited to announce the opening of their new coffee lounge located in the State Street Marketplace.

The new shop space will offer some amenities previously not afforded by the mobile operation, including a full-service espresso bar, locally-sourced baked goods, and comfortable seating options for guests of the marketplace. “We’re overjoyed to have the opportunity to make our new home inside of the State Street Marketplace,” Harms says. “It’s exciting to go from being on a solo mission of sorts (serving from the truck) to being part of a really vibrant, creative and welcoming atmosphere.”

Since originally launching the mobile venture in August 2016, Planetary Coffee has been busily serving coffee at a variety of public and private events in Traverse City and the surrounding areas, but the couple knew from the start they wanted to create a space where they could base their operations. “Our plan was always to establish the mobile concept and then grow into a brick and mortar operation,” Wilensky says. “Getting the coffee lounge up and running inside the State Street Marketplace is a huge opportunity for us, and it has long been our dream to create a vibrant gathering place while continuing to be able to take the truck out to a variety of events throughout the community,”
