Northern Michigan Memorial Day Services 2017

Honor American veterans who died in active military service at one of the following Northern Michigan Memorial Day services on Monday, May 29 in CadillacMackinac Island, Pentwater and other Northern Michigan towns.

Mackinac Island, Post Cemetery

A Memorial service honoring fallen veterans will be held at Veterans Memorial Stadium from 11 to 11:30 a.m immediately following the Memorial Day parade in downtown Cadillac on Mitchell Street at 10 a.m.


The Memorial Day observance will begin with a service at Veteran’s Park at 9 a.m. and Brookside Cemetery at 10 a.m.

Boyne City

Honor veterans during an 11:45 a.m. parade starting from the American Legion down Lake Street followed by services at Veteran’s Park at 12 p.m.

Mackinac Island

Pay tribute to the soldiers who served at Fort Mackinac. Soldiers will assemble at 8:30 a.m. at Fort Mackinac, march to Post Cemetery and perform a short ceremony and salute.


A Memorial Day service will be held in the historic Norwood Cemetery in the Village of Norwood from 8:30–9:30 a.m. The Norwood Area Historical Society sponsors an open house at the Schoolhouse for the public following the service with light refreshments.


The Memorial Parade starts at First Street with line-up at 9:30 a.m. across the street from the Baptist Church. All Veterans, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts are encouraged to participate. The Pentwater Band marches in the parade and plays in services. The first service will be held at Municipal Marina, second at the Village Green and third at Pentwater Cemetery. The Pentwater Cemetery is located 1/2 mile north of downtown.
