The second annual North vs. South Brewery Battle Dinner is Thursday, November 17 at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa’s Aerie Restaurant & Lounge. Bellaire’s Short’s Brewing Company and Atwater Brewery of Detroit will face off during the blind tasting and dinner. The event is the finale to Traverse City Beer Week, November 11–17.

The dinner is made up of five battle stations where tasters will sample each beer along with the food pairing and cast their vote blind. Each station features a different dish specially handcrafted by Chef Brian Petrick, to pair with each beer (menu below).

Both breweries produce an incredible range of beers. It’s not common to see such an extensive list, with just as unique flavors. Attendees will find themselves trying beers they wouldn’t typically think to order if left to their own devices, exploring more of what’s made possible by these breweries.

This year offers a chance at redemption for Short’s Brewery. Although the Bellaire brewery had more popular votes at the end of the night at last year’s battle, Atwater won three of the five battle stations and took home the trophy.

Grand Traverse Resort is hosting multiple events during Traverse City Beer Week, including The Great Beerd Run. The fun run includes a beer tasting every mile and a contest for both natural and assisted beards.
