August 12: TGIF! Enjoy a Friday evening downtown this summer. Downtown Petoskey Rocks & Friday Night Live in Traverse City.

August 12 & 13: Visitors step back in time and experience life as it was in the late 1800s and early 1900s at the Port Oneida Fair. History comes alive at six historic farmsteads in Port Oneida, in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Each farm has a variety of artists, crafts, food, and activities for visitors. Learn about spinning, basket weaving, soap making, butter making, candle dipping, and fur trapping. Listen as park rangers and local history experts share the area’s history. Watch as teams of oxen and horses cut, load, and haul hay and artists and craftsmen demonstrate their skills. August 13: Antique Boat Show & Festival of Arts at Les Cheneaux Islands is one of the largest antique wooden boat shows in the nation. Restored boats dating back to the early 1900’s are registered in this very unique show, with 150 entries each year that includes dinghies, rowboats, canoes, launches, sailboats, utilities, runabouts and cruisers. August 13: Forest Fest provides fun, educational activities designed to help children and families learn about this important natural resource. Children receive a natural resource activity booklet and can earn stamps by visiting each activity station. August 13: Northport Dog Parade Bark Wars & Northport Wine Festival: Bark Wars begin at 11a.m.; wine festival runs 1 to 6 p.m. Marina Park, Northport, 231.386.5575, northportomenachamber.org.

August 14-20: Otsego County Fair is an old-fashioned family fair featuring a carnival, food, horse shows and livestock. Otsego County Fairgrounds, Gaylord, 989.732.3811, otsegocountyfairgrounds.org.
