August 17-21: 29th Annual Rubber Ducky Festival
The festival starts with a 5k walk/run at 9 a.m. After the parade at 3 p.m., 2,000 rubber ducks get dumped into the Intermediate River, and race to the finish line at Riverside Marina. August 17, 24: Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy Events

August 18-21: Buckley Old Engine Show
Explore a museum of old tractors and engines run by steam, see a daily historic harvesting exhibit and more: flea market, arts and crafts, swap meet, music, parades, free steam train rides, sawmill, veneer mill, kids play area and scavenger hunt, cider mill demo, farm demonstrations, threshing and straw baling, railroad speeder rides and great food concessions. August 18, 19, 25: Grass River Natural Area

August 19-21: 49th Annual Coho Salmon Festival
The festival celebrates the Salmon Run up the Benzie County Rivers. The Platte River was the first river for salmon planting in Michigan. Activities for all ages including lawn tractor and kids tractor trike races, children games, duck race, medallion hunt, softball tournament, parade, flea market, live entertainment, fireworks and more. August 20: Power Island RAPA NUI 2016
Duathlon: Paddle / Run / Paddle. Location: Bowers Harbor to the North Tip of Power Island: Kayak, Canoe or SUP (stand up paddle), Run, to the South Tip of Power Island and Back. Paddle back to Bowers Harbor. Register online. Traverse City, 231.631.6168, racetc.com.

August 20: Lobster Fest
A New England tradition on the third coast: the 12th Annual Lobster Fest at the Grand Traverse Lighthouse in Northport. Dinner includes fresh/live Maine lobster or chicken, boiled redskins, corn on the cob, cherry dessert, slaw, coffee, lemonade and beer and wine. Line entertainment with Oh Brother, Big Sister and a silent auction.
