There are plenty of opportunities to catch great music at Traverse City Film Festival 2016. This year’s event will host over 70 different acts, representing a diversity of genres from classical to folk to hip-hop to electronic. Several of these artists hail from the Northern Michigan music scene, but a few come from Illinois, Florida, California, and even Canada. Prominent acts featured include Lady Ace Boogie, Almost Free, Sofi K, and Starlifter from the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America. A bracelet USB drive containing a sample compilation is available for purchase at the TCFF Box Office.

Beats by the Bay

Beats by the Bay is Traverse City Film Festival’s biggest music initiative for the current season. From a special stage overlooking the beautiful sights of the bay, live acts provide a soundtrack to precede the Open Space screenings. From Tuesday to Friday, artists perform from 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, they perform from noon onward. Several acts play one-hour sets throughout the course of the celebration, setting the stage for the Open Space film of the day.

Pre-Screening Music

Pre-screening musicians have a unique privilege; they get to set the atmosphere for their feature film. These artists are responsible for performing an appropriate setlist that matches their movie’s theme. This draws audiences into an unforgettable audio-visual experience, inspiring emotional responses before the film even begins. Prepare for a film-going journey unlike any other.

Parties

The 2016 Traverse City Film Festival is throwing several parties for the public to enjoy: the Opening Night Party on July 26, The Woz Party on July 27, the Filmmaker Party on July 30, and the Closing Night Bash on July 31. In addition to the food, films, and fun, these exciting evenings will feature performances by several of the Festival’s talented artists.

Traverse City Film Festival 2016 takes place from July 26 to 31.
