The harbor is a sprawling expanse of blues that will spend its entire summer thick with meandering watercraft. Boats have already begun to arrive along the Harbor Springs historic waterfront—they won’t leave their docks, though, until they’ve paraded through the harbor and received the “Blessing of the Fleet.” For the lover of boats and all things fun, this awesome event is a must.

On Wednesday, June 29 at 6 p.m., the harbor will fill with boats and ships of all sorts and sizes as the Fourth Annual Harbor Springs Blessing of the Fleet commences. Everyone is free to participate, either in the water atop their own watercraft, or from the shores of the harbor where crowds will gather. As sailboats, motorboats, and canoes alike parade through the harbor, a blessing will be placed upon them in hopes of bringing a safe and exciting summer to the watercraft and all who enjoy them.

At 7 p.m. following the blessing, celebration of the start of the season will ensue with the Summer’s Launch Celebration, to be held at the Boathouse of Harbor Springs. The party will feature local beers courtesy of Petoskey Brewing, wine from Harbor Springs Vineyards & Winery, food by Vernales, a selection of desserts from local vendors, as well as cocktails, a silent auction, and music to complement this fabulous evening. Summer cocktail attire is requested and tickets are required for the Summer’s Launch Celebration.
