PETOSKEY: The January Swirl series event at Crooked Tree Arts Center in Petoskey takes place on Thursday, January 21 at 5:30 p.m. CTAC and the YMCA of Northern Michigan invite art lovers to enjoy previews of upcoming exhibits while tasting Northern Michigan beer, wine, and farm-to-table hors d’oeuvres.
A sampling of wines from across the region will be provided from the nine wineries of the Northwest Michigan Bay View Wine Trail which include Crooked Vine Vineyard & Winery, Harbor Springs Vineyards & Winery at Pond Hill Farm, Mackinaw Trail Winery, Maple Moon Sugarbush & Winery, Petoskey Farms Vineyard & Winery, Pleasantview Winery, Seasons of the North Winery, The Cellars of Royal Farms, and Walloon Lake Winery. Short’s Brewing Company will provide beer, and Pond Hill Farm chef Scott Schornak will create hearty, fresh bites to complement the local libations.
A performance by Owen James and Maya Story of the Owen Story Duo will complete the evening’s atmosphere.
During the January Swirl event guests will get a sneak peek at the two upcoming shows: the 35th Annual Juried Photography Exhibition and Cynthia Greig’s solo show, True Likeness: Representations and Nature Morte, both of which open on Saturday, January 23. The Atrium Gallery show, Up North Captured Photographic Art Exhibit will be on display as well.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for the January Swirl, with food and music going until 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 per person the day of Swirl. Tickets are available now, and subject to availability.
The Swirl series will continue on Thursday, February 25 as a special collaboration between CTAC and the Blissfest Music Organization. Petoskey Brewing will provide beer, with Vernales catering and also providing wine. Musical entertainment will be put on by Blissfest.
The Crooked Tree Arts Center is located at 461 E. Mitchell Street in downtown Petoskey.
