Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Traverse City this year. Although the official holiday takes place on a Tuesday, we’ve mapped out some great family friendly suggestions for the weekend before. If you’re looking for a bit of fun the day of, we’ve got that too! Sláinte!


Leapin’ Leprechaun 5K, Saturday, March 14 at 9 am

Organized by the National Cherry Festival and sponsored by Fifth Third Bank, this annual 5K brings all sorts of leprechauns to town to show off their true Irish spirit! The race begins and ends in the Warehouse District at Inside Out Gallery. Come dressed to impress and enter the costume contest before you take off on a run (or walk).


St. Baldrick’s at 7 Monks Taproom, Saturday, March 14 at 10:30 am

Join the crew of 7 Monks and Short’s Brewing Company to help raise money for childhood cancer research. Either sign up to get your head shaved or be a part of a great cause and donate some dough. Enjoy a breakfast special and a Short’s Brewing Company Tap Takeover.


St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Front Street, Saturday, March 14 at 1:30 pm

Join the Ancient Order of Hibernian’s for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This year the parade begins and ends at the State Street Grill. Either join in on the parade or be a spectator! The parade starts at 1:30 pm, goes east on E. State Street, left on Park Street makes a left on Front Street, left on Union, left on E. State Street and ends at the State Street Grill.


Lucky Leprechaun Ball, Sunday, March 15 from 3-7 pm at The Workshop

From 3–7 pm enjoy a plethora of live music at The Workshop including Song of the Lakes, The Wild Sullys, Blue Footed Booby, Pam McCormick (an Irish dancer) and much more including bagpipe champion Stephan MacNeil! Don’t miss out on the 36th annual Danny Boy singing contest. Tickets are $15, $10 for seniors, children under 12 are free!
