HARBOR SPRINGS: New this summer, golfers can experience the best club and body tracking system on the market, play with an advantage using new course apps, enjoy renovations on The Monument and at Hidden River Golf & Casting Club, and plug-in with new high-tech carts at Boyne Highlands’ The Heather course.

BOYNE Golf Academy is now the Only School in the Midwest Offering GEARS Club and Body Tracking System
BOYNE Golf Academy has added another impressive tool to its teaching arsenal with the addition of GEARS, the industry’s most advanced full swing club and body tracking system. Until recently, GEARS was only available to PGA pros, club fitters, and manufacturers, and currently, only 13 training centers in the country offer this exceptional system. Utilizing cutting edge 3D scanning, GEARS employs a full body motion capture suite with 26 sensors, plus six additional sensors attached to the player’s club. The system, which also integrates eight high-speed cameras to capture every movement, processes the resulting data with proprietary software to provide a holistic analysis of every angle of a player’s swing. This invaluable feedback allows the Academy’s teaching pros to quickly hone in on areas where the player can make immediate and long-term improvements. To set an appointment with BOYNE Golf Academy, call 231.526.3848.

BOYNE Golf Academy’s Mike Fay Named a Two-Time U.S. Kids Golf Top 50 Kids Teacher
For the second straight year, BOYNE Golf Academy Director of Player Performance, Mike Fay, has been named among U.S. Kids Golf’s Top 50 Kids Teachers. Fay, an 18-year PGA Professional, was honored during an awards presentation at the 2015 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fla. for his expertise and commitment to developing the game of golf in youth. Since 2004, U.S. Kids Golf has honored golf’s best teachers with the Top 50 Kids Teacher Award. Winners are chosen based on their contributions to junior golf, such as: time devoted to teaching young golfers; innovation, creativity and fun in their programs; communication; parental involvement; use of a well-organized instruction program and overall effort to grow the game. Award recipients include teachers who work at public, private, resort, and municipal courses. The award recipients included golf professionals from 22 states, Canada, and Costa Rica.

New Apps and Yardage Books Provide Enhanced Course Guides
New apps providing golfers with 3-D flyover visuals of each hole, yardage information, and audio descriptions of ten of BOYNE Golf’s courses are now available for download. BOYNE Golf worked with Best Approach, a leader in golf course media, to create the new apps, which can be downloaded from Google Play and the App Store. For those who prefer a printed version, each course also offers a new, comprehensive yardage guide utilizing GPS mapping and 3-D scaling.

Golf Course Improvements
Boyne Mountain’s The Monument No. 18 tees have been relocated to add a more playable advantage. All five tee boxes were moved from the right side of the fairway to the left side drastically improving sight lines to the green by removing a cluster of pine trees from play, which had previously obstructed a golfer’s view.

The clubhouse at Hidden River Golf & Casting Club in Brutus has been completely renovated and is set to reopen spring 2015. The new lodge-style clubhouse overlooks the Maple River and features a golf shop, bar, and the Rainbow Room restaurant serving lunch and dinner. The Club was recently named among the “Best Courses You Can Play” by Golfweek.

Golfers playing The Heather at Boyne Highlands Resort will be treated to 72 new tech-savvy EZ-GO TXT golf carts featuring USB ports to recharge mobile phones, rangefinders, and other small electronics.
