The ballet version of Whither Thou Goest: The Story of Ruth, will be performed by the 24-member youth ballet students of Northwest Michigan Ballet Theatre on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Milliken Auditorium in Traverse City. In addition to the students, the show will also feature professional dancers and musicians.

Whither Thou Goest: The Story of Ruth is based on the Book of Ruth from the Bible. The ballet is set in The Great Depression of the 1930s in the poor coal mining town of Bethlehem, West Virginia. The score is a compilation of old gospel hymns played in a bluegrass style and performed live by local professional musicians. Period costumes, wonderful sets and Thomas Morrell’s eclectic choreography combine to unite old world biblical times with 20th Century Americana in this timeless tale of faith and devotion.
